BACK TO THE FUTURE

This month we're bringing back two presentations originally scheduled for October and calling this meeting, "Back to the Future". We've also decided that our last meeting of the year should be jam-packed with happiness, so we also added two more presentations: Automatic Duck & Matrox

The one thing all our presentors have in common: Their dedication to excellence in quality - making our professional lives easier and more productive without taking any shortcuts that short-circuit our final images.

Oh. Did we mention... it's FREE!

Space IS limited. Pre-register to reserve your seat.

Automatic Duck

Most NLE's have some sort of built-in tool that will move a Final Cut timeline into their 'app'. But no matter how well these tools "demo" on a website or at a trade show, there's always some critical setting that gets dropped along the way. Enter, Automatic Duck.

Wes Plate, Automatic Duck founder, returns to MoPictive this month to update us on the latest advacements in his unique Automatic Duck software.

MochaPro
Do you want or need to know how to do:
  • High-quality stabilization?
  • Minority Report type special effects?
  • Track objects onto your video (or make objects disappear entirely), even if you don't have tracking markers?
  • And do you need to do this with an app that works within the Final Cut Studio ecosystem?
Then you need to be at this month's meeting when Ross Shain from Imagineering Systems demos "MochaPro", a new product that merges the awesomeness of the original Mocha tracker and rotoscoping tools with the object removal, stabilization, and wire removal tools of its sister apps.

Cinedeck
If you were to describe an ideal codec to capture your footage, you might ask for:
  • Wavelet compression (no blocks)
  • 4K resolution, and beyond
  • 12-bit precision
  • RGB, RGBA, YUV, and RAW flavors
  • AVI and MOV
That's what the Cineform codec offers. Unfortunately, for those of us on 'mere mortal' budgets - the ability to record from the camera to Cineform wasn't very likely.

. . . Until now! Check out the very cool, direct-to-disk cinema grade, HD/2K video recorder. Not only does it record the output of your camera to the industry-standard Cineform codec, but it also records to Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD at 4:4:4 or 4:2:2. This unit even has a built-in touchscreen playback monitor. Can you say, high-end for mere mortals. And it'll be presented by Allan Hoff, CEO of Cinedeck.

Matrox
Matrox will demo for us their line of MXO2 input/output/monitoring devices. This line combines the capture card with the breakout box, resulting in a one-piece solution that's easy to move between edit bays or to take on the road!

From simple HDMI monitoring to a full rack-mount HD-SDI solution, the MXO2 line offers a product for almost any NLE need. They can be used with Final Cut Pro, Apple Color, After Effects, Avid, Premiere Pro... and more.

Stick around to the end of the evening and we'll be raffling of an MXO2 mini, an $895 value generously donated by Matrox.
